My name is Zsolt Varga and I graduated as a mechanical engineer at the University of Miskolc. At my first job, I prepared welding technologies for industrial boilers, pressure vessels and heat exchangers, and I had the opportunity to experience the practical challenges of the welding profession in working conditions.
Later on, I was in the fortunate position of being able to exchange workshop conditions for field work. In addition to being able to participate in the welding of hydrocarbon transporting pipelines, I was able to work with professionals with extensive practical experience at one of the leading pipeline construction companies in the country.
I used my experience as a welding engineer in the field of certification, where I had the opportunity to perform conformity assessments of pressure vessels, certify welding plants and welding technologies, and conduct welder examinations.
I have more than 15 years of professional experience in the field of welding, 8 years of experience in the field of certification and I have been performing the duties of an examiner for vessels and storage tanks for dangerous liquids and meltings for 6 years.
As a welding engineer, I took part in the professional management of Hungarian and international infrastructure construction and modernization projects of strategic importance. In addition to being responsible for the professional management of an average of 20 welders on a daily basis, I also participated in the coordination meetings of the pipeline construction projects and kept in touch with the material testers. I reviewed the X-ray films of the circumferential joints welded by the main line- and tie-in welding groups. This ensured the discovery of periodically recurring weld defects, and enabled welding groups to achieve the lowest possible defect percentage, and to minimize the extent and occurrence of significant defect sources in terms of the integrity of the pipeline.
In the conformity assessment of pressure vessels, I check compliance with the requirements of the 2014/68/EU Directive (Pressure Equipment Directive - PED). This includes the external and internal visual inspection of the welded joints of the equipment, the structural examination, and the verification of the qualifications of the installed raw materials, applied welding technologies and welding personnel.
The most far-reaching technology which I participated in developing to date won the 2013 Innovation Grand Prize. This was the first welding procedure that stably and reproducibly ensured the quality and mechanical properties expected by foreign investor even in field conditions. The experimental welding of this technology was the topic of my welding engineering diploma thesis.
During my professional career so far, I have participated in countless exciting construction projects, ranging between heated welding workshops in Hungary and shored trenches dug on the coast of the Baltic Sea.
These experiences allow me to respond to the wide range of challenges of my clients with professionally established, cost-effective and modern solutions.
